Human Factors Psychology Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position

The Department of Psychological Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9
- month, tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin on September 1, 2027. The successful candidate will be a
core faculty member in the human factors psychology program, which is fully accredited by the Human
Factors and Ergonomics Society, and will recruit, mentor, and train graduate students in the Experimental
Psychology graduate program (MA and PhD).

The specialty area for this position is open, with preference given to research that supports Texas Tech
University’s strategic research themes, including, but not limited to,
1) Strengthening National Security
(e.g., human–AI teaming, trust in automation, and human interaction with cyber-physical systems) and
2)
Advancing One Health (e.g., patient safety, provider workload and well-being, and the design and
evaluation of health technologies). Preference may also be given to candidates whose research
complements the research interests of current faculty and aligns with federal funding priorities.

Texas Tech University is a Carnegie R1 (very high research activity) Doctoral/Research-Extensive, Hispanic Serving,
and state-assisted institution. The Department of Psychological Sciences has doctoral programs in clinical,
counseling, cognition and cognitive neuroscience, human factors, and social psychology. We currently have 28
fulltime tenured and tenure track faculty members, 4 fulltime teachingtrack faculty members, 115+ graduate
students, 1,600+ undergraduate majors. We have effective working relationships with faculty across campus,
Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, large area hospitals, numerous clinics and psychological-service agencies, and
other multidisciplinary groups in the region.

• Ph.D. in human factors psychology, experimental psychology, or a closely related field, conferred by the appointment start date;
• a record of research productivity relevant to the field of human factors psychology;
• evidence of a commitment or willingness to commit to teaching excellence.
