Purpose of Position

The Center for Gender Equity’s work is centered around gender equity, LGBTQIA+ equity, reproductive justice, and the prevention of interpersonal violence. The CGE promotes equity and justice through activism, education, support, student programming, and events. The CGE is committed to promoting social, emotional, and physical health and wellness at Pacific University. We strive to help students find community on campus, explore and develop their core identities, cultivate healthy relationships, and prevent interpersonal violence.

As a Center for Gender Equity Ambassador , you will provide general support for the CGE and student engagement programming. You will be responsible for ensuring the CGE is always neat and presentable, answer student questions and connect them to available resources, and promote the CGE and its resources. Additionally, you will assist other student leaders in organizing and implementing projects and events

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Staff and maintain the CGE (may include opening/closing)
  • Greet and present a welcoming atmosphere to everyone who comes into the CGE
  • Reproductive Justice Program
    • Stock designated areas of campus with products at least once a week, or more often as needed
  • Other Programming
    • Assist in the organization and implementation of events hosted through the CGE
    • Assist in gathering student feedback regarding programming, services, and events
    • Attend and support additional Student Engagement and Inclusion events and activities, as able
  • Assist with social media related to the CGE
  • Answer student questions and promote services/resources available through the CGE
  • Develop collaborative relationships with the Student Multicultural Center (SMC), Undergraduate Student Senate (USS), ACE Board, clubs and organizations, and campus partners
  • Administrative
    • Complete daily office hours log and program evaluations for events and projects
    • Assist in completing CGE clerical duties and special assignments, as needed
    • Attend all required meetings, retreats, and trainings
      • Bi-weekly check-ins with advisor
      • Weekly CGE team meetings
      • Additional meetings relevant to position, when possible
    • Practice effective communication with advisor relating to schedule, job duties, and academic progress

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Be registered for academic year
  • Be in good disciplinary and academic standing (cumulative GPA of at least 2.0)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Dependable, organized, and flexible
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic familiarity with or willingness to learn spreadsheets and word processing software such as MS Excel/Google spreadsheets, MS Word/Google docs
  • An interest in LGBTQIA2S+ advocacy, reproductive justice, sexual health, inclusion, and working with people with diverse backgrounds
