JOB OBJECTIVE:
The Para educator is responsible for assisting teachers, Itinerant staff and others in the support of instructional, health related, recreation and/or pre-vocational job training activities. The Para educator may be assigned to one classroom or to
a variety of assignments depending on the needs of the students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency required.
- Work experience with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Working knowledge of training techniques, behavior modification, and task analysis.
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with students, parents, community, and peers.
- Ability to understand and work with children of all ages.
- Must demonstrate cooperative and effective communication skills, both oral and written, and apply active listening skills.
