Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at Caldwell County Primary School as a Full-Time Special Education Paraprofessional. This position plays a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, fostering an inclusive environment, and assisting teachers in delivering effective educational experiences. The ideal candidate will be patient, adaptable, and committed to helping students achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities- Assist special education teachers in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students in various classroom settings.
- Help students with daily living skills, including personal care, social skills, and behavioral management.
- Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and engagement in classroom activities.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to create a supportive learning environment.
- Facilitate communication between students and staff to enhance understanding and interaction.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education.
- Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and classroom organization.
- Support the implementation of classroom routines and behavioral interventions.
- Engage with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and address concerns.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; must have 48 college hours or pass the Kentucky State Para educator Exam.
- Previous experience working with children, particularly in special education settings, is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support students with diverse learning needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from teachers and administrators.
- Basic knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices is a plus.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to support student learning.
- Ability to lift and assist students as needed, including those with physical disabilities.
- Certification or training in CPR and first aid is preferred.
