Job Description

The Director of the Library shall be directly responsible for the operation of the Carnegie Vincent Library, including the Reed Medical and Allied Health Sciences Library and the Mabel Smith Music Library. Flexible or hybrid work arrangements may be considered based on the qualifications of the successful candidate, the responsibilities of the position, and the operational needs of the University.

Required Qualifications
  • MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited program; at least three years administrative experience working in an academic library.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Library Science or related field

Job Duties
  • Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students and to the community at large
  • Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students
  • chair the Library and Learning Resources Committee, serve on other University
  • committees as needed
  • administer the effective and efficient operation of all aspects of library service, including the health sciences library
  • develop and implement policies and procedures, in consultation with the Library and Learning Resources Committee, necessary for the operation and promotion of the library
  • coordinate, in consultation with the Library and Learning Resources Committee, the development of the library collection, maintain a collection responsive to the needs of the faculty, staff, and students
  • promote and maintain professional relationships with the faculty, staff, and students
  • promote the library
  • maintain the library s budget
  • oversee hiring of all library personnel; train, supervise and evaluate job performance of all direct reports and provide direction on personnel maters to unit supervisors.
  • participate in activities designed to enhance professional and scholarly development
  • complete required institutional, program accreditation and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of University programs, both on campus and at extended campus sites
  • perform other duties as assigned
  • maintain strict confidentiality regarding library patron records and other University matters
