Description
The English Language Instructor (ELI) teaches multiple weekly English classes to those interested in improving English language skills. Programs include, but are not limited to, English Basics, Missouri Driver’s License Written Exam, Financial Literacy, English for CNA, and English for Citizenship. In these classes, the instructor connects with students personally and encourages them in their journey to learning American English.
This is a part-time position with an hourly rate of $20.28
, with benefits.
North-East Branch: 6000 Wilson Avenue, KCMO, 64123.
Schedule 1 (20-hours per week)- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday: 8:30 am - 2:30 pm
- Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday: 2 pm - 7:30 pm
- Saturday: 9 am - 12:30 pm
Note:
Schedule is subject to change to cover programs. For non-emergency coverage, at least one week's advance notice will be given.
Education and Experience
- TEFL, TESOL, TESL, or equivalent certification - currently pursuing or already certified.
- Public library and/or customer service experience.
- Experience working with non-native English-speaking persons.
- 2 years experience in teaching English Language coursework.
- Bachelor's or advanced degree preferred and will count towards teaching experience requirement.
Work is performed at the North-East library or partner sites throughout the district. Primary workspace is shared with co-workers in an office environment, other work will be performed in a public space amongst staff and patrons from a diverse socio-economic community.
