Sellwood Studio of Performing Arts is seeking a part-time Experienced Voice Teacher who can also teach beginner piano to join our wonderful, growing team.
We are a friendly, inclusive performing arts studio working with students ranging from young children who simply love to sing and perform to highly aspirational students pursuing competitive, collegiate and professional opportunities.
Beyond private lessons, Sellwood Studio offers fully staged musical productions, recitals and live performance opportunities, alongside advanced supplemental training for students looking to take their development further.
Our highly qualified faculty have extensive professional performing careers, from Broadway to the Metropolitan Opera, and our students have earned recognition in national voice competitions and leading roles in school, youth, community and professional productions.
Responsibilities- -Teach high-level 1:1 voice lessons to students approximately ages 5–18, from beginners through advanced and
-aspirational singers - -Teach strong, healthy and age-appropriate vocal technique and pedagogy, alongside musicianship and performance skills
- -Work confidently with Musical Theatre repertoire, with familiarity in Pop/Contemporary vocal styles and classical foundations
- -Teach fundamental and beginner level piano
- -Prepare students for recitals, auditions, competitions, school and professional productions, and other performance opportunities
- -Guide students in appropriate repertoire selection and interpretation
- -Support the individual technical and artistic development of students with a wide range of abilities and goals
- -Bachelor’s degree in Music, Musical Theatre, Theatre, Performance, Music Education or a related field
- -Minimum of 2 years of professional performing and teaching experience
- -Strong foundation in vocal pedagogy and healthy vocal technique
- -Strong background in Musical Theatre, with familiarity with Pop/Contemporary vocal styles
- -Strong musicianship and ability to read standard music notation
- -Ability to work effectively with students ranging from young beginners to serious, aspirational performers
- -Strong people skills and ability to connect with students of different ages, personalities and abilities
- -Reliable, communicative and invested in student development
- -Positive and enthusiastic teaching style
- -Ability to provide supplemental guitar instruction is a plus
This is a part-time 1099 independent contractor position paying $50–$55 per teaching hour, commensurate with experience. We are seeking afternoon and evening availability, with weekend availability also valuable.
