All Teaching Faculty members shall:
Prepare and teach college-approved courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules, including developing syllabi and reading lists and keeping each course taught complete and up to date; respond to and work with multiple constituencies, including students, peers (faculty and staff), and external agencies (business, community, educational, etc.); perform divisional departmental responsibilities in the selection of texts and related teaching resources;

and other teaching and related duties as outlined on the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Under the direction of the Dean, or other administrator, the Assistant Professor/DC is responsible for teaching thirty (30) credit hours per academic year and delivering a range of courses within the assigned discipline. Courses may be offered in lecture, hybrid, and/or online formats, and teaching schedules may include both day and evening classes. Department chairs shall be given release time for their chair duties based upon the number of full-time equivalent (FTE) faculty they directly supervise.

Key responsibilities include:

• Teaching courses within the assigned discipline area in accordance with institutional standards
• Evaluating and assessing student learning outcomes
• Providing student support, mentoring, and academic advising
• Developing curriculum and periodically reviewing and updating instructional materials
• Assisting with program reviews and accreditation-related activities
• Planning and executing program-related events
• Attending workshops, trainings, and/or professional conferences to maintain currency in the field

Department Chair duties include:

• Program Development and Communications
  • Participates in the establishment of department short and long-term goals develops short and long-term strategy plans
  • Provides leadership in the planning development and proposed modification and updating of program curriculum
  • Provides accurate academic and curriculum information for college publications
  • Reviews department course offerings and with faculty advise makes recommendations for new and revised courses
  • Maintains and communicates current knowledge of institutional philosophy trends strategy and methodology
  • Conducts department meetings provides reports to the Dean or other designee
  • Fosters open communication with and among staff members
  • Encourages department faculty to develop innovative instructional techniques
  • Maintains liaison with Baccalaureate institutions community and industry through regular visits; ensures that program advisory committees meet regularly; reports visit results and meeting minutes to the Dean or other designee
• Staff leadership and Coordination
  • May be responsible for and or participate in the recruitment screen and recommendation of faculty and support staff
  • Develops and maintains a pool of qualified candidates for assignments to course offerings
  • Provides guidance to and evaluate faculty in accordance with established policy
  • Orients faculty
