Schedule

AVID Tutors are required to work the same schedule every week, ideally on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, or Tuesday through Friday. A typical schedule is somewhere between 5-16 hours of work per week.

Minimum: $17.50 Maximum:$24.00

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • -Candidates are either currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution or a college graduate
  • -Excellent communication skills
  • -Organized, responsible, flexible, motivated, professional
  • -Positive recommendations around attendance, attitude, and performance
  • -Ability to commit to the entirety of the  school year (or at a minimum one semester)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: ADDITIONAL DESIRED

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • -Previous experience working with diverse middle school or high school-aged youth
  • -Previous AVID tutoring experience
  • -Experience with small group facilitation
  • -Proficiency or fluency in both English and Spanish languages
  • -Previous experience working in a school setting or with school staff
  • -Experience working with students in a pre-college or college readiness program

Position Summary/

Job Duties:
  • RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
  • -Support AVID scholars through facilitating small group tutorial sessions
  • -Model inquiry, academic language, higher level thinking, and problem solving skills
  • -Provide feedback on student work and group collaboration
  • -Collaborate with a team of tutors and elective teachers to support scholars’ agency
  • -Adhere to district/site policies and procedures
  • -Engage in ongoing professional development
