MATH LEARNING CENTER - PROFESSIONAL TUTOR POOL
This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview.

Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
The purpose of this position is to tutor students, enhance their mathematics knowledge and help them develop the skills necessary to succeed in a variety of math courses. Tutors will utilize a collaborative and interactive process to enable and encourage students to become a more effective and independent learner.
Work/schedule hours vary, however may be within any time that the Math Learning Center is open.
Minimum Qualifications
MATH LEARNING CENTER – PROFESSIONAL TUTOR ( LEVEL I) -
- 12 college credit hours, “B” average for Math classes
MATH LEARNING CENTER – PROFESSIONAL TUTOR ( LEVEL II) -
- 60 college credit hours, “B” average for Math classes
MATH LEARNING CENTER – PROFESSIONAL TUTOR ( LEVEL III ) -
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics or a Math-related field
*** OR*** Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 21 college credit hours in Mathematics
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong mathematical skills and logical reasoning.
- Ability to effectively articulate mathematical concepts. Capable of working with students from different cultural backgrounds as well as various academic levels and needs.
- Prior tutoring experience.
- Completion of Calculus I and II with high standing.
- Knowledge of learning management systems (preferably Canvas).
- Proficient with a variety of calculators and math software such as My Math Lab .
- Ability to work independently and to take initiative in fulfilling responsibilities.
