Position Summary:

The Teacher Assistant Development Program (TADP) job coach will work with adults with disabilities interning in early childhood classrooms and school-age aftercare programs. Responsibilities include developing a plan for each participant to be successful in their work roles and supporting them while working at their child care job sites.

• Travel to participant child care work sites to provide on the job support to individuals who require initial assistance to complete employment tasks.
• Ensure that each individual can perform their new job duties safely, efficiently, and eventually independently.
• Model for participants how to complete their child care duties and when necessary, reteach participants the skills they are expected to perform.
• Develop alternative methods for the participant to complete tasks that they demonstrate difficulty with.
• Assist the individual in building and maintaining ongoing communication with coworkers and supervisors.
• Track and accurately document individuals’ progress and be accountable to regularly report this information to the program coordinator.
• Work collaboratively with the program coordinator to develop a plan for each participant to fade out the job coach’s presence and support at the participant’s worksite.
• Maintain communication with child care site employers to ensure that both the participant’s and employer’s needs are met.
• Advocate for the individual as needed.
• Instruct participants in appropriate workplace behaviors including but not limited to work habits, attire, and hygiene.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

This is a part-time position, up to 15 hours a week. Hours vary depending on participant interns’ schedules but can occur any time between 9 am – 6 pm.

Minimum of High School Diploma, some college preferred.

• Candidates must have experience working with individuals with disabilities in vocational training programs.
• Willingness to travel to different job sites as may be required.
• Candidates with early childhood education setting experience are encouraged to apply

• Must be flexible – candidate work schedule is based on participant interns’ work schedules.

Travel to participants’ childcare worksites to provide on-the-job support to individuals who require support completing employment-related tasks is required; mileage reimbursement available. However, this position does not include transporting or driving program participants.
