Description:

  • -The Chilton Public School District is seeking a passionate and student-centered Special Education Teacher to serve students with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism in an elementary/middle school program (currently grades K-5). Join a team of 5 teachers across the district who support students with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism. Caseloads average 6-10 students each year. The classroom has 2paraprofessioanls who support the learning of students and work under the direction of this position.
  • -This role is ideal for an educator committed to inclusive practices, individualized instruction, and collaborative teamwork. The successful candidate will provide specially designed instruction, develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), monitor student progress, and support students'academic, social-emotional, communication, and functional skill development.
  • -As part of a collaborative team, this teacher will work closely with related service providers and specialists to create consistent programming, share resources and expertise, and ensure high-quality educational experiences for all students. The ideal candidate values teamwork, problem-solving, and building strong partnerships with families and staff to support student success across school environments.

Instruction and Curriculum:

  • - Design and deliver individualized instruction aligned to IEP goals and Wisconsin Essential Elements
  • - Support students’ academic, communication, social-emotional, and functional skill development
  • - Implement evidence-based practices (e.g., structured teaching, visual supports, ABA-informed strategies)
  • - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families
  • - Supervise and support paraprofessional staff
  • - Promote inclusion and access to general education environments when appropriate

IEP Development and Compliance:

  • - Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with IDEA, state, and district regulations.
  • - Collect and analyze data regularly to measure student progress toward IEP goals.
  • - Write measurable goals, present levels of performance, and progress reports.
  • - Participate in and facilitate IEP meetings, ensuring family engagement and collaboration.

Classroom Management and Environment:

  • - Design and maintain a structured classroom using visual schedules, work systems, and clear routines.
  • - Ensure classroom organization supports independence and supports a calming environment
  • - Supervise paraprofessional staff, including assigning roles, modeling strategies, and providing feedback.
  • - Requires flexibility, patience, and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:

  • - Bachelor’s degree in Special Education
  • - Valid Wisconsin teaching license in Special Education (e.g., Cross-Categorical #1801 or equivalent DPI licensure)
  • - willing to sponsor license with stipulations teacher
  • - Demonstrated knowledge of IDEA and Wisconsin DPI special education requirements.
  • - Experience working with students with Intellectual Disabilities and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder
