SFUSD EED Infant/Toddler Teacher

Under the supervision of the site administrator or designee, the Infant/Toddler Teacher provides high-quality early childhood instruction in alignment with SFUSD Early Education Department guidelines. The Infant/Toddler Teacher implements a play-based, developmentally appropriate program that supports the academic, social-emotional, and physical development of Infant and Toddler-aged children and reflects the district’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.

Key Responsibilities & Role Details

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based instruction aligned with California Infant/Toddler Learning & Development Foundations (ITLDF) and SFUSD EED curriculum frameworks
  • Provide instruction that supports language development, early literacy, foundational mathematics, and social-emotional learning
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom that promotes exploration, independence, and positive behavior
  • Maintain a warm, inviting, and intentionally designed classroom environment that serves as a “third teacher,” with organized indoor and outdoor learning areas aligned to the Creative Curriculum, accessible and regularly rotated materials, opportunities for choice and ongoing projects, spaces for independent and collaborative work, meaningful documentation of children’s learning, integration of natural elements, and clean, well-organized spaces that support engagement and exploration.
