The Affiliate Faculty member is appointed as Internship Coordinator at Eastern University to serve as a strategic link between Eastern University’s academic curriculum and professional social work practice. Reporting to the MSW Internship Director and serving on the Internship Team, this role is responsible for identifying and vetting high-quality placement sites that meet rigorous CSWE accreditation standards.
As a mentor and advocate, the Internship Coordinator guides MSW students through every stage of the placement lifecycle, from initial advising to successful agency matching. This position requires an organized professional dedicated to fostering community partnerships and cultivating the professional and ethical development of future social workers.

Placement Development and Agency Relations- Site Vetting:
Evaluate potential internship sites to ensure they provide supervision and opportunities for students to demonstrate core social work competencies. - Strategic Partnerships:
Act as the face of the MSW program to community agencies, fostering long-term collaborative relationships. - Contract Management:
Oversee the initiation and execution of formal affiliation agreements and placement confirmation documentation.
- Mentorship:
Advise students on internship policies, helping them align their personal learning goals with professional opportunities. - The Matching Process:
Review student applications and facilitate the "interview-to-match" process by supporting student-initiated outreach to potential internship partners and provide administrative review of proposed placements to ensure a mutually beneficial fit for the student and the host organization. - Compliance:
Maintain rigorous oversight to ensure all placements meet University and CSWE regulatory requirements.
- Data Management:
Maintain an accurate, up-to-date database of agency partners and student placements. - Reporting:
Track and report on placement metrics (e.g., pending placements, placements needing external supervision. etc.) to program leadership. - Collaboration:
Contribute to departmental meetings and specialized internship committees to improve program outcomes. - Automation:
Support in automation processes to better support students interacting with the Internship Team. - Meetings:
Participate in Internship Team Meetings as scheduled. Facilitate Internship Orientations.
- Provide Supplemental Supervision:
Deliver weekly individual or group supervision to students placed at sites without an on-site MSW (off-site supervision model), ensuring they integrate social work values and competencies into their practice. - Competency Assessment:
Evaluate student progress toward the CSWE Social Work Competencies and sign off on midterm and final field evaluations. - Ethics & Identity:
Guide students in navigating complex ethical dilemmas and developing a professional social work identity through process recordings and reflective practice.
- Conduct professional interviews for MSW program applicants to assess their readiness, emotional intelligence, and alignment with social work values. This task is to be assigned and completed during high volume admissions seasons.
- Participate in assigned Information Sessions in collaboration with the Enrollment Team.
- Participate in events organized and hosted by the Center on Career Development.
- Teaches at least one section of the internship course.
