The Warrior Peer Mentor Program seeks Peer Mentors for the  academic year. The pay is $13.00/hour which includes all training, and the work as described in the duties above includesassumingthe

Warrior Welcome Student Leaderroleduringthatdedicatedperiod . The work schedule includes a maximum of 10 hours/week during the Fall and Spring semester.

Thementoriswillingto sharetheirknowledge,experience,andwisdomandactasaguidelandrolemodel. A peer mentor supports and encourages the academic and social development of their mentees and provides active support to help them with adjusting to the ESU/college environment. The peer mentor offers a fresh perspective and an independent point of view, while helping the mentee to succeed.

The Peer Mentor program is seeking peer mentors for the  academic year. As a Peer Mentor, you will help guide towards success a group of approximately 50+ new to ESU undergraduate students in your academic program and/or your college during their first year s connection begins during Warrior Welcome Weekend and works in tandem with the campusresourcesthroughouttheyear.

Theprimarymissionofthe Warrior Peer Mentor Program  is to ease the transition of new students to East Stroudsburg University so that they may succeed personally, socially, and academically. Additionally, the program helps each new student (freshmen or transfer) connect with other students, the faculty, student organizations, and staff offering support resources, and ultimately the institution as a whole.

• To acquaint each student with East Stroudsburg University-its structure, services, and personalities.
• To assist the student in personal assessment of his/her abilities and support their transition academically, socially, and personally.
• To help new students connect with other peers and at least one upper-class student in a meaningful, positive way.
• To promote class attendance and participation in cultural events.
• To promote participation in meaningful campus activities.

• Have and maintain a 2.7 GPA during the time of your appointment.
• Remain free of disciplinary sanctioning at the suspension level or above.
• Complete the training modules for the program.

• Become acquainted with all students in their group and other new students and establish positive relationships.
• Set positive examples for others in personal, academic, and social behavior.
• Help build rapport each time he or she meets with a mentee.
• Ask open-ended "how" and "what" questions with a mentee.
• Challenge and/or encourage a mentee depending on what the situation requires.
• Offer opportunities to problem solve and exchange ideas.
• Provide feedback that is honest, open and positive
• Take a genuine interest in helping the mentee succeed
• Present opportunities to the mentee that he/she may not have recognized on his/her own
• Provide suggestions to the best of one's knowledge that help the mentee succeed in the program
• Discuss and monitor the first-year engagement for each of the assigned mentees based on expectations outlined by the Program Director.
• Schedule, facilitate and prepare summaries of weekly meetings with your group and submit them in a timely manner to the PM Program Director.
• Maintain individual mentor hours that need to be logged timely.
• Track attendance for all events and meetings.
• Contact the Program Director, Dr. Jessica Santiago, immediately should issues arise that the mentor cannot handle.
• Connect with Student Success Coach in your college for triage on student cases when needed.

Must be at least 18 years old and have English literacy skills. Employment with ESU is contingent on the selected candidate passing a thorough background check that includes: FBI fingerprinting, PA Child Abuse, and employment/degree verifications. We are proud ESU is an equal opportunity employer.
