Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Employment Specialist to join our team at Elliott County High School. The Employment Specialist will play a vital role in connecting students with employment opportunities, providing career guidance, and facilitating job readiness programs. This position requires a proactive individual who is passionate about helping students succeed in their career aspirations and navigate the transition from education to the workforce.

• Develop and implement career services programs that assist students in exploring career options and securing employment opportunities.
• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to provide career guidance and support to students.
• Collaborate with local businesses and organizations to create internship and job placement opportunities for students.
• Organize job fairs, workshops, and networking events to connect students with potential employers.
• Assist students in developing resumes, cover letters, and interview skills to enhance their employability.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of labor market trends and employment opportunities relevant to students’ interests and skills.
• Monitor and track student placements and follow up with both students and employers to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns.
• Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, employers, and educational institutions to enhance career services.
• Prepare reports and presentations on employment trends and student outcomes for school administration and stakeholders.
• Provide support and guidance to students with special needs or barriers to employment in their job search efforts.

• High School Diploma or GED and all other requirements.
• Previous experience in career counseling, job placement, or workforce development preferred.
• Strong understanding of the job market, employment trends, and career development resources.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and employers.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with career development software or databases.
• Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment for all students.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed for events and workshops.
