Education:
Associate degree from an accredited institution in Education, Special Education, Human Services, Psychology, Adult Education, or a related field; or a combination of education and relevant experience that demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

Skills:


Knowledge of instructional strategies and best practices for adult learners with I/DD; ability to adapt instruction and materials to diverse learning styles, abilities, and individual needs; strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, classroom management, and collaboration skills; ability to use technology and assistive technology to support accessibility, engagement, learning, and independence; ability to maintain accurate records, protect confidentiality, follow College policies and applicable regulations, and work effectively with students, families, staff, and community partners.

Working Conditions & Environment:
Work is performed in classroom, campus, community, and other instructional settings. Occasional travel to off‑campus sites may be required. The position requires mobility within instructional environments and, when appropriate, accompanying students during community‑based instruction, career exploration, and work‑based learning activities.

Carteret Community College is accepting applications for a part‑time Exceptional Adult Education Instructor.

The Part‑Time EAE Instructor provides accessible, individualized instruction to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, supporting academic, career, employability, and independent living skills; promotes student success through person‑centered learning, collaboration with other EAE staff and College and community partners, and an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

• Plan and deliver accessible, individualized instruction for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, adapting curriculum, materials, activities, assessments, and instructional strategies.
• Provide instruction in academic, functional, social, communication, independent living, career readiness, employability, self‑advocacy, and workplace skills.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, student‑centered learning environment promoting participation, independence, and skill development.
• Monitor and document attendance, participation, progress, achievement, and support needs; maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate with EAE staff, College personnel, families, community agencies, employers, and partners to support learning, transition planning, career exploration, and work‑based learning.
• Integrate technology and assistive technology to enhance accessibility and independence.
• Participate in professional development; maintain current knowledge of instructional practices, disability supports, accessibility, adult education, and College policies; maintain confidentiality.
