Grant Funded Student Success Coach

As the Student Success Coach, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable collaborating with various ESU departments to nurture an encouraging environment geared towards student success. You will be an active member of the Academic Affairs team and will work closely with the Associate Provost for Student Success utilizing data metrics to implement effective support interventions to bolster student retention.

You will thrive in this role if you like combining your campus life or counseling background and interpersonal skills to impactfully connect with students all while serving on ESU committees to optimize academic success initiatives. To be successful in this role, you must be able to make personalized connections in the campus community, use effective judgment for allocation of student resources, and have a strong passion to help others.

Your normal hours will be Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, but you may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Student Success Coach. This is a full-time role dependent on continuous grant funding. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming.

• Connect students to resources and guide students to successful completion of a degree program.
• Support students through encouragement, engagement, motivation, and inspiration.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of student success initiatives.
• Administer varied tools and assessments of first-year students.
• Define and identify "at-risk" freshmen and establish data baseline and tracking mechanism.
• Monitor and review student assessment responses and progress indicators (self-assessments, Warrior Fish flags, midterm grades, etc.) and respond personally to construct a support plan for individual students.
• Analyze assessment data, maintain databases, and construct reports on student interventions, success impact, and retention continuous improvement measures.
• Refers students to appropriate campus resources in an effort to meet the personalized needs of identified students.
• Collaborate with faculty, administration, Financial Aid Office, Office of Residence Life, Office of Admissions, and other campus partners in the development of retention efforts.
• Document students contact and maintain student records via the university's computerized information system.
• Coordinate social media content to maintain communication of support and announcements with all first-year students.
• Serve on university-wide committees, task forces, and academic success initiatives.
• Perform other related duties to support the university's mission to recruit, retain, and support diversity of the ESU student population.

• Master's degree in campus life, education, counseling, or related field.
• Two (or more) years of experience in a field directly related to the duties and responsibilities as outlined above.
• Experience with higher education student support programs (e.g. mentoring programs).
• Experience with assessment construction, data collection techniques, and analysis of said data.
• Excellent oral, written, technological skills (including excel, data collection reports, and social media).
• Strong collaborative skills with high education faculty, staff, and administration.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Comprehensive understanding of higher education, mentoring, tutoring, or counseling.
• Understanding of both traditional and non-traditional higher education students.
