Job Responsibilities

The School of Arts and Sciences seeks a Visiting Professor of Psychology to begin Fall 2027. We seek candidates with a Masters or Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related field. Preferred specializations include cognitive science, user interface, user experience, data analytics or human-computer interaction. This position carries a 12 hour teaching load per semester and involves teaching undergraduate courses across multiple modalities (in-person, online, and hybrid).

Faculty are expected to contribute meaningfully across research, teaching, and service while actively engaging with students and the broader Fisher community.

The candidate will have the following responsibilities:

• Teach undergraduate psychology courses; assess student learning and progress.
• Develop and teach lower-level courses in psychology and cognitive science, such as
  • Cognitive processes
  • Research Methods
  • Introduction to Psychology
  • Data Analytics
  • Intro to UX/UI/ HCI
• Develop and teach innovative, upper-level courses tailored to your expertise, such as:
  • Applied Research in UX/UI/ HCI
  • Cognitive Neuroscience or related areas
• Advise and mentor students and support recruitment and retention efforts.
• Utilize an array of teaching techniques.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of courses, programs, and School initiatives.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, alumni, and the professional community to advance the School’s mission.
• Provide service to the Department, School, University, profession, and broader community, and share expertise through scholarly and professional outlets.

Required:

• Proof of permanent right to work in the US on first day of employment.
• A terminal degree in psychology or related field from an accredited institution. ABD candidates will be considered if the degree will be completed by August 2027.

• Professional experience in related fields of psychology.
• Experience teaching undergraduate courses.
• Preference will be given to candidates with teaching or professional experience in cognitive science, user interface, user experience, or human-computer interaction.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
