The Department of Gender and Women’s Studies at CSUN emphasizes interdisciplinary, cross-cultural and transnational studies with a focus on gender. Our academic program includes course work in feminist theories, women and social movements, transnational feminisms, women of color feminisms, decolonial and postcolonial feminisms, women’s economic conditions in the context of globalization and development, productions of women in the media and literature, queer studies, women’s health and masculinity studies.

The Department of Gender and Women’s Studies at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of feminist environmental studies. We welcome scholars whose work approaches environmental justice through the lens of legal studies, public policy, science and technology studies (STS), critical race studies, ethnic studies, feminist studies, or related interdisciplinary fields.

We seek ascholar whose teaching and scholarship applies feminist decolonial, intersectional and/or critical race approaches to the study of extractivist economies, climate crisis and ecological destruction, and/or environmental justice. Preference will be given to scholars whose work centers marginalized, racialized or global South communities including their experiences, epistemologies, and struggles around environmental inequality. Community-engaged or applied scholarship is especially welcome.

In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, participation in assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university. The successful candidate may be required to teach on weekdays, evenings, weekends, and/or online and will be held to the standards and requirements of the college and department in which he/she/they is/are housed for recommending tenure and promotion.
