Foreign Language Instructor

Sustain teaching performance in the credentialed discipline (Spanish), including appropriate course loads. This load will include seated, hybrid, and online courses with day and evening course assignments, which may include courses at any campus location or any area high school. A second discipline, such as French, is desired.

Duties include maintaining mastery and currency in the credentialed field; marketing, recruiting and retaining students in all college transfer programs; ensuring compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable state and federal agencies; record keeping in the areas of student performance, including student learning outcomes; advising students in various degree programs; participating in committee and campus support functions, including scholarships, grants, campus marketing, accreditation and inter-institutional and system cooperative programs;

and program planning and support of the Institutional Effectiveness plan.

master's degree in Spanish from an accredited four-year institution, or a master's degree in a closely related field with 18 graduate hours in the field. It is preferred that the candidate has an additional 18 hours in another foreign language or curriculum discipline.

all persons must provide verifiable and relevant professional experience in a workplace setting or a demonstrated instructional/teaching environment. A minimum of two years' teaching experience is preferred.

Strong personal and professional integrity, work ethic, and a commitment to safety; a student-centered and solution-centered mindset; proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite or similar products, database systems, College email and website, and other computer applications associated with the position; ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with community organizations, high school partners, college staff, and the general public;

flexible schedule available in the evenings and on weekends as needed.
