Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, lettering, and art history. Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing and painting. Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned art units that introduce foundational concepts like line, color theory, texture, shape, and balance. Provide hands‑on instruction in diverse techniques including watercolor, acrylics, clay modeling, paper craft, printmaking, and basic digital media. Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment.

Evaluate each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understanding, and provide progress reports. Collaborate with homeroom and specialty teachers to align art projects with grade‑level science, social studies, literature, or math topics. Plan and present art displays and exhibitions showcasing students’ work for the school and the community. May sponsor exhibits from outside the school.

Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities provided by the school and/or in self‑selected professional growth activities. Communicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress. Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs, such as after‑school art club. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Administration.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field; advanced degree preferred. NJ State Teacher Certification in Music.

Passion for music and a genuine desire to inspire young learners. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Demonstrated ability to engage students in creative and interactive music lessons. Experience using technology in the music classroom.

Salary range: $50,000 -$70,000, commensurate with experience. The salary will be adjusted based on the remaining portion of the academic year.
