Assistant Professor – History of Science and Technology in Asia

The Department of History at The City College of New York (CCNY) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the History of Science and Technology in Asia. Geographic and chronological specialization within Asia is open. We welcome scholars whose research situates science and technology within broader social, cultural, political, economic, environmental, or transnational contexts, including candidates whose work examines connections between Asia and other regions of the world.

Teaching responsibilities include courses in the history of science and technology, Asian history, undergraduate and M.A. electives in the candidate’s areas of expertise, and classes that contribute to the college’s general education curriculum.

For over 175 years, The City College of New York has provided access to high-quality education for New Yorkers in a wide variety of disciplines. Over 17,000 students pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the School of Architecture, the School of Education, the Grove School of Engineering, the Center for Worker Education, the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership, and the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education.

The City College of New York has produced ten Nobel laureates.

Ph.D. in History or a related field.

Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarly achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Salary Range: $79,630 - $94,017
