Position: Assistant/Associate Professor of Christian and Classical Education & Latin focus

Grove City College’s Department of Education invites applications for a full-time assistant/associate professor of Christian and Classical Education beginning in July 2027. The Education Department is seeking an individual who can help Grove City College become the premier college for preparing the next generation of Christian and Classical educators in the newly created B.A. in Christian and Classical Education program. Responsibilities include teaching courses within the Christian and Classical Education major/minor that integrate classical pedagogy within the Christian liberal arts tradition.

In addition, a four-semester sequence of Latin courses would be among the successful candidate’s responsibilities. This sequence is a required component of the Classical and Christian Major and will support other minors such as the Classics Minor. The new faculty member will be expected to engage with students outside the classroom and supervise apprenticeship experiences including embedded field experiences. Faculty members are expected to have a classroom load of 23 to 25 contact hours per academic year and assist with academic advising of Education Majors.

A Ph.D. in Classical Education, Christian Education, Classics, or related fields is required (ABD candidates will be considered). Those candidates with graduate-level work, or teaching, in Latin will be given preference. The Education Department seeks dedicated professors who can demonstrate how they integrate their Christian faith into their practice to prepare our students for teaching positions in Christian, classical, international, and public-school settings.

Successful candidates who have experience in PreK-12 settings, as well as successful teaching at the undergraduate level, are preferred.

Grove City College’s Education program includes both the Classical and Christian Education program as well as several distinct PDE-approved teacher preparation programs spanning PreK-12 and enrolls over 265 students. The Education Department places a heavy emphasis on apprenticeship opportunities and fieldwork throughout the freshman-senior experience. The Department also houses a variety of campus resources, including a preschool, curriculum library, and specialized career development services for education majors.

A strong, demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the Statement of Faith and Christian mission and vision of Grove City Collegeis required.
