Director of Campus Ministry & Church Relations

Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President for Student Success and Engagement the Director of Campus Ministry and Church Relations is responsible for leading Edwards Waters University (EWU) in creating a robust campus ministry program; leading EWU in its spiritual formation; conducting religious services to students, staff and faculty; and representing Edward Waters University at church related functions on and off campus, forming relationships within the community and serve as a liaison between EWU and the African Methodist Episcopal church, specifically the 11th District at the expressed direction of the university.

• Serve as primary point of contact for EWU and the AME Church; primarily the 11th district. Examples of leadership include consistent presentations and representation in the 11th district as well as developing programming and celebrations to include AME Celebration Week for the EWU and local community.
• Preach at regular services and conduct religious rights while providing spiritual counseling to students, faculty, and staff
• Work with school administrators, church leaders, and/or interfaith organizations to develop events and opportunities for EWU students to engage
• Recruit and supervise volunteers and employees to assist with leading ministry planned efforts
• Coordinates Campus Ministry’s welcome events at the start of the fall (Faith Fest) and spring semesters.
• Serves as the Campus Ministry’s liaison to the faith based Registered Student Organizations (RSOs)
• Provides pastoral support for students in need by responding to referrals from Residence Life, Wellness, Conduct, and other departments
• Collaborates with OSAL in the development of programs for first year and transfer students.
• Recruits and trains the Interfaith Advocates from a cross section of religious identities
• Prepares retreats including the recruitment of student leaders and their formation, along with the evaluation and assessment of the retreat.
• Handles all logistics, including securing faculty/staff speakers, musicians, food, and room reservations
• Will serve as member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT)/Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) and/or Threat Assessment Team.
• Participate in campus ministry staff and committee meetings
• Create opportunities for EWU students to serve both stateside and abroad, will work conjunction with the Office of Community Service
• Serves on University and Division committees as assigned
• Responsible for the designating prayer spaces for students
• Other duties as assigned in supporting the University Mission and functions of the Division of Student Success & Engagement

- Bachelor’s degree required;
Master's degree preferred or equivalent in Theology, Divinity, Christian Education or a related field of study and

- Five to seven years of previous higher education experience or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
