This position is 8 hours per day from 6am to 2pm. The position includes the duty of riding the handicap bus every morning. The primary role of this position is to provide support in the girls classroom at Rocky Creek Youth Ranch.

JOB OVERVIEW

To be a paraprofessional for special education department. Perform specified services as in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Will perform any combination of tasks in andout of the classroom while with the student(s).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Support offsite education programs in accordance with West St. Francois County R-IV established curriculum and procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member tosupport student/classroom learning and activities. Collaborate as needed to develop and implement programs and curricula for Kindergarten through 12 th grade students.
  • Research and implement grade appropriate instructional materials.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with supervisors,teachers, coordinators and caregivers.
  • Provide information for and incorporate content from Rocky Creek Ranch into programs and activities.
  • Must possess a valid Missouri driver’s licensein good standing; must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have adequate transportation to reach off-site campus.
  • Adhere to all West St. Francois County R-IVstaff policies and procedures, as well as, approved Rocky Creek Ranch policies.
  • Ability to work effectively with students andstaff in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities,staff meetings, workshops or conferences as scheduled by the district.
  • Maintain cooperative relations with members of Rocky Creek Ranch.
  • Perform all related tasks and duties as required.
  • Discuss with teachers regarding the educational,social, emotional and physical needs and objectives of each student.
  • Implement and maintain individualized learning plans for each student.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIP) as necessary.
  • Monitor and document each student’s progress utilizing appropriate measurements.
  • Implement necessary interventions and strategies to promote achievement of student objectives.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment.
KNOWLEDGE

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field.
  • Abilityto communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
  • Abilityto perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of educational technology and the ability to work with a wide range of computer equipment and software.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND EVALUATION

Length of contract and salary to be determined annually by the Board of Education. Performance of this job willbe evaluated annually by the Superintendent of Schools and approved by the Board of Education.

Requirements:

Associate degree (A.A.) or a minimum of 60 college credit hours.
Must obtain a substitute teaching certificate.
