The Principal Manufacturing Trainer is a senior technical training and qualification resource responsible for building workforce capability within an assigned manufacturing discipline. The role leads structured on-the-job training (OJT), using approved Work Instructions (WI) as the task-performance standard and Training Evaluation Standards (TES) as the basis for training progression, proficiency evaluation, and qualification. The position develops trainers, improves objective and audit-ready qualification practices, and leads complex or cross-functional training initiatives.

When qualified and authorized, the position may perform direct work to support business needs; such work must remain secondary to training responsibilities and may not exceed 25% of working time.

• Deliver structured OJT, cross-training, qualification, and onboarding activities using approved WI and TES.
• Provide hands‑on instruction, coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance using approved WI, TES, procedures, materials, qualification criteria, and job aids.
• Deliver training assessments and evaluations with process owners, technical authorities, subject matter experts, and document control to maintain WI alignment.
• Evaluate proficiency through practical demonstration and approved TES assessments; recommend readiness, additional OJT, or reassessment using defined criteria, and elevate performance, conduct, safety, or compliance concerns.
• Coordinate OJT priorities, schedules, and resources with trainers and leadership; communicate qualification progress, proficiency concerns, and skill gaps, and support skills‑matrix accuracy.
• Identify skill gaps and partner with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Safety, Training, and other stakeholders to address workforce capability needs.
• Support Train‑the‑Trainer programs; train, mentor, and evaluate trainers on WI, TES, and the approved OJT process, and complete or recommend qualification actions within approved authority.
• Lead plant‑level initiatives and, when assigned, align OJT and qualification practices across departments or NAM sites.
• Maintain complete, traceable, audit‑ready TES, OJT, training, qualification, and applicable certification or authorization records.
• Review TES and training materials for WI alignment and shop‑floor use; maintain technical currency and recommend updates when requirements or standard work change.
• Reinforce WI‑defined safety, quality, technical, housekeeping, and work‑practice expectations throughout OJT.
• Use TES results and other approved evidence to evaluate OJT effectiveness and improve training, qualification, standard work, and workforce capability.
• Serve as the senior technical training and qualification resource for manufacturing inspection, including dimensional, visual, and applicable nondestructive examination methods used within the assigned inspection area.
