Position Summary:
The Assistant Program Advisor Trainee, Greek Life (APAT) is a trainee level appointment working under the leaddirection of the Assistant Director and with close supervision of the AVP/Sr Director. During the trainee period,which is not to exceed 12 months, the APAT is expected to develop and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to function under general supervision at the SSP IB working level.
The incumbent assists the Assistant Director through clearly defined efforts to deliver integrated support services and programming aimed at improving students’ academic success, leadership, professional development, retention, and enrichment of the overall student experience. The APAT contributes to the development and execution of intentionalstudent involvement and engagement programs, activities and events and will also advise student-led clubs and organizations, with an emphasis in Greek Life.

Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime compensation)
Anticipated Hiring Range
:$4,150 per month (Anticipated hiring rate is at the minimum of the classification salary range)
CSU Classification Salary Range
: $4,150 per month - $5,076 per month

- Friday 8am to 5pm / Summer Hours Monday
- Friday 7:30am to 4pmwith evening hours and occasional weekends dependent on department need.

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge and Abilities:
Working knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior; research and observation techniques forthe purpose of recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information; and the techniques and methods of interviewing. Ability to gather and analyze data; reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations; participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences and interviews; clearly express ideasand recommendations orally; write clear and concise reports;
and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and faculty.
Experience:
None required.
Education:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfullyapplied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-yearbasis.
Required Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior and the ability to apply that knowledge when supporting student leaders, chapters, governing councils, and students with differing needs, experiences, and perspectives.
- Working knowledge of research and observation techniques for the purpose of recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information.
- Working knowledge of the techniques and methods of interviewing and advising to understand student needs, clarify concerns, provide accurate information, and help students identify appropriate options and next steps.
