Our Guiding Values and Tenets

The Corporate Energy Buyers Association is a business association with a mission to activate a community of energy customers and partners to advance low-cost, reliable, carbon emissions free global energy systems.

We are grounded in respect for people and the planet, integrity in how we conduct ourselves, service to our mission, stakeholders, and colleagues, and excellence in all of our programs and work. At CEBA, we strive to foster a culture that is mission-driven and strategy-grounded, built on a spirit of partnership both within and beyond our organization, and energized by innovation and entrepreneurship through healthy, respectful dialogue.

Position Overview

The Corporate Energy Buyers Association (CEBA) is seeking a Director of Energy Transactions to drive our mission to accelerate clean energy procurement of carbon emissions-free electricity by accelerating the adoption of innovative transaction pathways. The Director will help shape the next generation of voluntary clean energy markets by equipping corporate buyers with the knowledge, tools, and market frameworks needed to procure renewable and emerging clean firm technologies.

This role sits at the intersection of market strategy, buyer education, and transaction innovation. The Director will lead initiatives that improve corporate readiness to procure technologies such as geothermal, advanced nuclear, energy storage, and natural gas with carbon capture and storage (NG+CCS). The Director will also work with market participants to identify barriers to deployment, develop practical procurement guidance, and support the evolution of market instruments, standards, and commercial frameworks that enable credible corporate action.

The ideal candidate combines experience structuring and negotiating energy transactions with a strategic understanding of how markets evolve. They are comfortable engaging with corporate buyers, developers, utilities, policymakers, NGOs, and standards organizations to help solve complex market challenges and accelerate investment in clean electricity.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with team collaboration days on Mondays and Wednesdays and one additional in-office day each week, determined by team priorities.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead CEBA's strategy to accelerate corporate procurement of clean electricity through innovative transaction structures and market development initiatives.
  • Design and deliver educational programming, working groups, workshops, primers, and tools that increase corporate buyers' ability to evaluate and procure clean energy solutions.
  • Develop strategies to address commercial, market, and operational barriers to the procurement of emerging technologies, including geothermal, advanced nuclear, energy storage, NG+CCS, and other low-carbon resources.
  • Develop CEBA's perspective on emerging transaction models, market standards, and procurement practices, and help position the organization as a trusted thought leader in voluntary clean energy markets.
  • Convene energy buyers, developers, utilities, financiers, NGOs, standards organizations, and other stakeholders to build alignment around procurement best practices and market frameworks.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on transaction structures, commercial risk allocation, voluntary market design, and procurement strategies.
  • Collaborate with CEBA's Policy, Global, Membership, and Communications teams to align market education, member engagement, and policy priorities.
  • Represent CEBA in industry forums, conferences, standards development efforts, and stakeholder convenings.
  • Lead cross-functional projects and manage staff and consultants supporting Energy Transactions initiatives.
  • Monitor emerging market trends and identify opportunities for CEBA to expand buyer access to innovative clean energy procurement pathways.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in a relevant field
  • Demonstrated experience in energy origination, corporate procurement, power markets, structured transactions, project development, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of wholesale electricity markets, power purchase agreements (PPAs), risk allocation, and commercial transaction…
