Are you a hands-on safety professional who enjoys working directly with teammates to improve how work gets done? Nucor Building Systems Indiana (NBSIN) is hiring a Safety & Health Technician to support safe, efficient operations through employee training, process improvement, and collaboration with operations, maintenance, and leadership. This role will have a strong presence on the floor across all shifts , helping develop effective safety practices, coach operators, support equipment and maintenance projects, and identify opportunities to continuously improve safety and performance.
BasicJob Functions:
- Develop processes and procedures to ensure safe and efficient operations along with developing and maintaining training materials, presentations, and hand-on exercises.
- Provide training to operators on proper operation techniques, safety protocols, inspections procedures, and emergency protocols.
- Evaluate the performance of operators and provide feedback, add additional training as needed and recognize high performers.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop strategies for improving safety, efficiency, and reducing downtime. This could relate to researching new equipment and participating in best marking of other divisions.
- Have a presence on all shifts.
- Participate in Maintenance projects involving new equipment installation, guarding, LOTO procedures, and on-site contractors.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
- Ability to travel.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and standards related to operations, such as OSHA and ANSI.
- Ability to obtain crane and forklift operator certification required.
