The Opportunity Our Gas Control & Planning Group is looking to add a Control Center Operator to the Gas Control team in Charleston, WV. Reporting to the Manager, Control Center, we are seeking an ambitious and responsible individual for this developmental level Control Center position. This position will independently follow established methods, TC Energy’s Control Room Management Plan (CRM) and procedures to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the U.S. Pipeline systems.
Whatyou’ll do
- Ensure the safe and efficient operations of compressor stations, meter stations, regulator stations and pipeline systems
- Identify, analyze and take appropriate action to mitigate abnormal operating conditions at compressor stations, meter stations, regulator stations and pipeline systems, including emergency and unplanned outage situations
- Provide excellent customer service
- Meet all customer’s contractual requirements
- Monitor and respond to alarms as per established protocol
- Follow all aspects of PHMSA's Control Room Management (CRM) rules and TC Energy procedures
- High school diploma
- Strong team player that maintains a positive attitude in both normal day-to-day operations and in high-stress situations
- Solid mathematical, analytical and computer skills
- Ability to remain calm, effective, flexible, and even-tempered in high-pressure circumstances or in confusing, chaotic, or demanding situations
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
- Be conscientious, attentive and able to work well with others
- Possess effective written and verbal communication skills
- College degree or technical school diploma
- 4 or more years of related pipeline operations experience
- Embody TC Energy's values of Safety in Every Step, Personal Accountability, One Team, and Active Learning
- Specialized technical knowledge of transmission systems, operating procedures, and utility codes
- Be able to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays and available for overtime, extended work hours, and call-outs as needed
- Successfully complete pre-employment medical screening including drug and alcohol testing
- Obtain D.O.T. Operator Qualification certification through the successful completion of the Company's testing and evaluation program within the prescribed timeframe
- Live within 60 minutes of work location due to emergency response requirement for this role
