The Novelis Guthrie, KY team is seeking an experienced Operational Excellence Data Engineer to join our automotive finishing plant. In this role, you will identify high-value improvement projects, coordinate training, and support the development of the site’s loss intelligence system to prioritize initiatives. You will play a key role in driving continuous improvement and operational excellence across the facility.

Additionally, you will collaborate with the Operational Excellence Manager to implement the Novelis Operating System (NOS), including plant-wide value stream analysis and improvement planning cycles. This position requires strong coordination skills to manage numerous projects and provide regular updates to leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and enhance Operational Excellence methodologies and tools for the Guthrie facility.
  • Conduct assessments to identify high-impact improvement opportunities across manufacturing areas.
  • Equip area managers with tools to identify issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with operations leadership to define technical problems and test hypotheses.
  • Monitor and maintain model performance to meet operational requirements and adapt toouvreing conditions.
  • Serve as a resource for operations, maintenance, EHS, and supply chain teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Drive loss intelligence development by identifying and prioritizing projects aligned with business goals.
  • Lead improvement teams and coach others to lead successful initiatives.
  • Communicate deviations in planning or results promptly to collaborators.
  • Translate complex findings into actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
  • Master improvement tools and deliver training to empower employees at all levels to embrace a ZERO LOSS culture.
  • Prepare and report weekly and monthly KPI updates to leadership.
  • Identify and share best guidelines to align site performance withələrinin global standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Engineering or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in process engineering, automation, or manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis techniques (e.g., distributions, linear regression).
  • Proficiency in analysis tools such as MS Excel, Power

    BI, Minitab, and Project.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, and MATLAB.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to collaborate on complex problem-solving.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience leading Lean, TPM, Kaizen, or Six Sigma initiatives with proven results in manufacturing.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt required;
    Black Belt certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead multi-functional teams to deliver improvements on time.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized, energetic, data-driven, and results-oriented professional.
