Position: HSQE Officer (Dry Bulk)
Location: Leitchfield

For a Leading Dry Bulk Shipping Company: HSQE Officer Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective implementation and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (ISM) across the fleet
  • Oversee PSC preparation and follow-up, monitoring all deficiencies, corrective actions, and preventive measures
  • Manage and coordinate all Right Ship-related matters, including inspections, vetting preparations, and post-inspection responses
  • Monitor compliance with MLC, including crew welfare, accommodation standards, and working/rest hour regulations
  • Support and participate in internal and external audits, shipboard inspections, and risk assessments
  • Review and process incidents, near misses, non-conformities, and implement corrective actions
  • Prepare safety reports and maintain departmental KPIs in line with company standards and regulatory requirements
  • Provide training and guidance to vessel and office personnel regarding safety, environmental compliance, and quality procedures
  • Ensure environmental compliance in accordance with MARPOL and other applicable industry regulations
  • Collaborate closely with Technical, Marine, and Crewing departments to ensure unified safety culture across fleet operations
Qualifications
  • University degree in Maritime Studies, Engineering, or related field and/or seagoing experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an HSQE Department (preferably within dry bulk)
  • Proven competence in Right Ship vetting, PSC preparation, ISM Code implementation & MLC compliance
  • Strong knowledge of international regulations (IMO, Flag, Class, ISPS)
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong reporting ability
  • Effective communication skills and ability to liaise confidently with vessels and authorities
  • Knowledge of Benefit ERP will be considered a significant asset
  • Excellent command of English, both oral and written
