Role PurposeThe Safety Officer ensures full compliance with all occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations across aluminium and alloy conductor manufacturing operations. The role focuses on maintaining safe working conditions, mitigating risk, and promoting a strong safety culture aligned with OSHA and local regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)- Develop and implement OHS policies in line with OSHA and local safety standards specific to aluminium and alloy conductor manufacturing.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments covering hazardous substances, machinery, molten metal operations, and electrical hazards, and implement preventive measures.
- Plan and deliver safety training programs on chemical handling, PPE usage, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and emergency response.
- Monitor plant operations and conduct routine inspections of work areas, production zones, and waste-handling facilities to ensure compliance.
- Lead investigations of incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare reports; and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain mandatory documentation related to incidents, inspections, safety drills, and hazardous material management.
- Liaise with state and federal regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Oversee the safe storage and handling of materials like aluminium ingots, fluxes, and chemicals, maintaining proper ventilation and fire safety controls.
- Supervise safety systems during smelting, casting, extrusion, and wire drawing processes to manage heat, electrical, and mechanical hazards.
- Conduct emergency preparedness drills (fire, chemical spill, electrical incidents) and ensure effectiveness of environmental control systems (dust extraction, fume capture).
1. Knowledge
- 5+ years of safety management experience in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment.
- In-depth understanding of OSHA standards, hazardous material management, and factory legislation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety, health, and environmental compliance frameworks.
2. Skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and report-writing abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital safety management systems.
- Skilled in incident investigation, CAPA implementation, and workforce safety communication.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking.
- Proactive, organized, and team-oriented approach.
- Commitment to fostering a culture of safety excellence.
- Education:
B.Tech in Electrical, Mechanical, Metallurgical Engineering, or Industrial Safety. - Professional Certification:
Certification in Occupational Safety and Health (mandatory). - Experience:
5–8 years of relevant experience in industrial safety within manufacturing or heavy industry.
