Position

Summary

The Project Controls Specialist is responsible for coordinating and executing project controls functions including schedule performance monitoring, progress reporting, forecasting, and change management for large-scale energy and infrastructure projects. This role works closely with project management, construction leadership, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure accurate tracking of project performance against baseline schedules. The Project Controls Specialist leads the implementation of project controls systems, reporting tools, and forecasting processes to support informed decision-making and successful project delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the execution and continuous improvement of project controls processes including forecasting, scheduling coordination, and performance reporting.
  • Track and maintain change order logs including identification, cost projection, progress tracking, and coordination of approvals.
  • Lead periodic performance review meetings with project leadership to review schedule progress and forecast updates.
  • Assist with Monitoring and tracking subcontractor invoices, Schedule of Values (SOV), and Time & Material (T&M) work to ensure accuracy and alignment with project progress.
  • Coordinate progress tracking and reporting using field data, production units, and rules-of-credit methodologies to maintain accurate schedule progress updates.
  • Support schedule updates by coordinating progress inputs with field teams and schedulers to maintain accurate earned progress and forecasting curves.
  • Review payroll and labor cost allocations to ensure proper cost coding and alignment with project work scopes.
  • Assist with preparation of executive and client reporting including monthly project reviews and financial summaries.
  • Maintain project controls documentation including tracking logs, and historical project data for closeout and reporting purposes.
  • Support the development and implementation of project controls procedures, templates, and reporting tools to standardize project performance tracking.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 year of Project Controls experience.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across project teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other project controls or reporting tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced project environments supporting multiple stakeholders.
  • Preferred Strong understanding and earned progress reporting.
  • Preferred Experience supporting large-scale construction or energy projects such as utility infrastructure, industrial facilities, or renewable energy projects.
  • Preferred Familiarity with project scheduling systems and progress tracking methodologies.
  • Preferred Ability to interpret project schedules, and performance metrics to support decision-making.
