Process Engineer II/III – Catlettsburg, KY
Marathon Petroleum Company’s Catlettsburg Refinery located in Catlettsburg, KY is seeking a Process Engineer II/III. The Process Engineer will report to the Process Engineering Manager, monitor process performance, and identify opportunities for improving yield, energy efficiency, and reliability while assisting in planning test runs and developing projects to address opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor process performance and identify opportunities for improving yield, energy efficiency, and reliability. Assist in planning test runs and develop projects to address opportunities.
- Support collaboration with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve operational challenges and develop relationships with console and field operators.
- Participate in hazard evaluations, incident investigations, and management of change.
- Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
- Support turnaround/outage execution, including reviewing turnaround planning, scope development, and post‑event evaluations.
- Maintain and update process documentation.
- Troubleshoot and maintain unit mass balance within tolerance.
- Participate in technology advisory groups.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Two (2) years or more of experience in process engineering within refining, petrochemical, or related industries.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full‑time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery and physically perform all tasks in the field.
- Four (4) years or more of experience in process engineering within refining, petrochemical, or related industries.
- Excel and process simulation software proficiency.
