Technical Drafter – Novel Engineering Inc

Location:

Melbourne, US. Contract position from date of hire until 10/16/2026. Pay: $35.00 per hour. 1099, full‑time. US citizenship required.

The Technical Drafter is a contract position that performs computer‑aided drafting and support for engineers.

• Create and edit mechanical, assembly, electrical and control drawings using Solid Works.
• Create original drawings from hand sketches and CAD models.
• Review drawings to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
• Assist engineers with parts lists, cost estimating and plans & specifications development.
• Follow customer processes and procedures.
• Initiate follow‑up to update documentation when any changes occur.
• Ensure work is carried out safely and efficiently.

• Associate degree in computer‑aided drafting or equivalent 5+ years experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Proficiency in CAD techniques, ASME standards, creating assemblies, exploded views, parts lists, BOMs and 2D drawings.
• Knowledge of Solid Works, Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Strong attention to detail, adaptability and teamwork.

• Mechanical skills – uses basic mechanical tools and occasionally climbs ladders.
• Mathematical skills – performs calculations in metric and imperial systems.
• Reasoning ability – solves practical problems and interprets instructions.
• Computer skills – knowledge of drafting and familiarity with ASME drawing standards.

Regularly sit, walk, stand, use hands repetitively, reach with hands and arms, lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally climb ladders. Vision: close, color, peripheral, depth perception. Work in a professional office environment with standard office equipment; moderate noise. May require exposure to manufacturing areas for safety equipment.

No travel expected.
