JOB PURPOSE:

The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supervising all aspects of electrical control systems.

• Responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software.
• Design control systems for mechanical and hydraulic manufacturing equipment.
• Ensure installation and commissioning meet design standards.
• Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments.
• Assists in identifying the technologies to be used for engineering projects.
• Industrial Equipment and Automation Controls procurement and integration.
• Visual Basic programming for Production data collection and traceability.
• PLC, HMI, and robot programming, debug and troubleshooting.
• Electrical troubleshooting and debugging.
• Develop and maintain electrical systems to ensure a safe working environment.
• Improve quality and manufacturing process performance.
• Design and programming of PLC's and variable frequency drives
• Assist Maintenance with troubleshooting equipment and controls related issues
• Performs system specification, design, architecture, and development for Control Systems
• Program Rockwell / Siemens PLCs, Networking and HMI
• Develop standards, procedures, manuals, and other documentation for projects.
• Perform design and implementation of Compressor and Pumps Control System.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of communications networks and wiring.
• Study project and customer specification documents and develop control package accordingly
• Responsible for working with the Engineering and Quality departments to ensure compliance to the change management process; must have working knowledge of product deviation release, technical change process, CTM project.
• Maintain product safety in all designs

Experience, Competencies and Education

An experienced leader with appropriate industry experience, preferably in the automotive manufacturing field. Minimum required two-year technical degree or equivalent; five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Desired Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

• PLC programming proficiency with Siemens and Allen Bradley products.
• Ability to troubleshoot and maintain PLC / DCS / HMI programming and configuration.
• Ability to perform computer aided-design and drafting tasks implementing AutoCAD (or equivalent).
• Ability to read electrical schematics, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&’s) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s)
