As an Automation Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, programming, implementing, and improving automated manufacturing systems that increase production efficiency, improve quality, and reduce downtime. You'll work closely with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams while leading automation projects from concept through installation.
Responsibilities- Design and implement automated manufacturing systems including robotics, conveyors, assembly equipment, and vision systems
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and industrial control systems
- Integrate new automation equipment into existing manufacturing operations
- Perform system testing, startup, commissioning, and optimization
- Troubleshoot production equipment and perform root cause analysis
- Develop preventive maintenance strategies for automated equipment
- Lead automation and continuous improvement projects
- Partner with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve manufacturing performance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ISO, UL, CE, and other applicable safety standards
- Support Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of Automation Engineering experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
- Experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
- Experience with robotics, HMIs, SCADA, sensors, vision systems, and industrial controls
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
- Experience integrating automated manufacturing equipment
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Experience with AutoCAD or Solid Works
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience
- Robotics or Automation certifications
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing environments
