Location: Vanceburg

A manufacturing organization is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to support and maintain safe work practices while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve safety programs, employee training, and safety committee activities.
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams on process improvements and provide EHS guidance related to safe work practices and process safety.
  • Update, maintain, and audit site safety standards, procedures, and documentation on a routine basis.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, incident investigations, and root cause analysis; recommend and follow up on corrective actions to reduce future risk.
  • Maintain EHS documentation, policies, procedures, and required reporting, including environmental and regulatory reports such as SARA Tier II, Title V certifications/emissions reporting, TRI, and related compliance documentation.
  • Prepare reports for leadership regarding compliance status, EHS risks, corrective actions, and improvement plans.
  • Serve as a point of contact with outside agencies, vendors, and other external EHS-related organizations.
  • Support initiatives aimed at reducing workplace injuries, workers’ compensation costs, and safety-related downtime.
  • Travel to other company locations as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or a related field required.
  • 3–5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and related federal, state, and local regulations required.
  • Experience supporting EHS programs in a production environment with exposure to machinery, chemicals, and industrial processes.
  • Strong communication, documentation, training, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work hands-on in a manufacturing environment and spend regular time on the production floor.
