POSITION OVERVIEW:

As an Environmental Technician at LJA in our Public Works department in the Stormwater Division you will work with an experienced team of environmental consultants in LJA's Stormwater Division on projects for assisting municipalities and industrial facilities in complying with state/federal water quality regulations.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:
  • Conducting construction site inspections to identify stormwater quality issues
  • Conducting municipal facility inspections to identify stormwater quality issues
  • Conducting outfall monitoring to identify illicit discharges
  • Entering data associated with field inspections
  • Conducting representative monitoring events
  • Communicating through verbal and written means as required for job performance
  • Providing status reports to project manager on routine basis
  • Performing other assigned duties as required
REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/

CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of Associate Degree in Environmental Studies preferred
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational skills; attention to detail in recording field data
  • Must have a clear driving record, a DMV check will be conducted
  • Ability to represent LJA and its clients in a professional manner at all times
  • Basic computer skills; must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with environmental regulatory compliance and/or field inspections preferred
  • Must be able to drive long distances, to and from job sites within Texas. Locations may include, but are not limited to:
    Houston, Austin, Freeport, Conroe, and Beaumont.
  • Inspection sites will have uneven ground and will require walking/standing for long periods of time; possible climbing.
  • Work in inclement weather (hot/cold/rain)
  • Ability to define routine problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to solve routine problems and/or deal with a variety of variables in situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
