Position: Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist
Location: Northern

Responsibilities

  • Assess client operations and provide guidance to ensure compliance with EHS and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Interpret EHS regulations for the client and provide technical direction on required compliance activities.
  • Respond to information requests related to the client’s EHS management systems.
  • Support the client in coordinating with local, state, and federal EHS regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare compliance documents, permit applications, submissions, authorizations, reports, and regulatory notifications as needed for client operations.
  • Support regulatory reporting and documentation, including chemical inventory reports, air emissions reports, EPA , hazardous materials business plans, equipment registrations, inspection responses, corrective actions, waste management plans, safety committee reports, RIDDOR reports, and other location-specific requirements.
  • Complete assigned EHS compliance calendar tasks, action plans, and tracking activities within the client’s systems.
  • Collect and report information on environmental and occupational health aspects of facility operations, including chemical use, storage, disposal, air emissions, hazardous waste, electrical safety, indoor air quality, and occupational noise.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of EHS compliance programs such as occupational health and safety systems, laboratory safety, hearing conservation, injury and illness prevention, and contractor safety.
  • Promote awareness of EHS programs among client employees and contractors.
  • Develop, review, update, and deliver EHS training content across various locations, including risk assessment, manual handling, health and safety committee training, spill prevention, laboratory safety, chemical and hazardous waste handling, contractor safety, and hearing conservation.
  • Act as the client EHS department’s appointed representative during hazardous and universal waste pickup events at US client facilities, working alongside certified waste disposal vendors.
  • With approval from relevant client EHS leads, represent the client EHS team in interactions with third parties such as insurance providers, pre-qualification agencies, regulatory bodies, and other external stakeholders.
  • Provide general support to the client EHS team, including CAPA tracking and closure, facilitating site access for other ERM team members, and assisting with related activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety or a related field preferred;
    Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • 3–8 years of experience in environmental permitting, EHS support in laboratory environments, technology operations, or data centre safety management preferred.
  • DOT Hazmat Shipper training preferred.
  • Experience with California EHS permit administration preferred.
