Senior Electrical Estimator

Job Description

Position Summary

R.D. Graham is seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator, responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and/or industrial electrical construction projects. This role analyzes drawings, specifications, and other documentation to determine labor, material, and time requirements, helping ensure projects are bid competitively and profitably.

$90k - $110k per year depending on experience

PTO, Holidays, 401(k) matching, Medical/Dental/Vision, Basic and Group Life, Hospital Confinement, etc.

Key Responsibilities

• Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop detailed cost estimates
• Perform quantity take-offs for electrical systems (power, lighting, low voltage, etc.)
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
• Prepare and submit complete bid packages within deadlines
• Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams
• Maintain accurate cost databases and historical records
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed
• Assist with project handoff to operations after award
• Manage and oversee estimating team members

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in electrical estimating
• Knowledge of commercial and/or industrial electrical systems
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Accubid, McCormick) and Microsoft Excel
• Excellent communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Electrical field experience (electrician, foreman, or similar)
• Experience with design-build projects
• Familiarity with NEC (National Electrical Code)
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required)
• Time management and ability to meet deadlines
• Problem-solving and critical thinking
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Office-based with occasional site visits

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods
• Occasional travel to job sites
