O’Connell & Associates Consulting Engineers is a locally owned, multidisciplinary consulting firm serving Northwest Florida. As our company continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our Civil Engineering team.
This isn’t a role where you’ll simply work through someone else’s project list. You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of projects from concept through construction, develop lasting client relationships, mentor younger professionals, and help shape the continued growth of our Civil Engineering practice.
What You’ll Do:You’ll lead residential and commercial land development projects throughout Northwest Florida and work closely with clients, architects, contractors, consultants, regulatory agencies, and our internal design teams.
Your responsibilities will include:- Lead civil engineering projects from initial planning and design through permitting and construction
- Prepare and review civil site plans, calculations, reports, specifications, and other technical documents
- Manage site development, grading, drainage, stormwater, utility, roadway, and related civil design
- Manage project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client expectations
- Coordinate directly with clients, architects, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies
- Lead project, client, permitting, and construction meetings
- Coordinate permitting efforts and respond to agency review comments
- Perform site visits and provide construction-phase support as needed
- Review the work of engineers and designers for technical accuracy and completeness
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff
- Assist with project proposals, scopes of work, and fee development
- Help improve internal processes and contribute to the continued growth of our Civil Engineering practice
Required Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
- Approximately 4–7+ years of relevant civil engineering experience
- Experience with residential and/or commercial land development projects
- Strong understanding of civil engineering design principles and construction practices
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or applicable civil engineering design software
- Ability to prepare, review, and interpret engineering plans, calculations, specifications, reports, and contract documents
- Experience coordinating with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects, priorities, schedules, and deadlines
- Northwest Florida land development
- Stormwater management and drainage design
- Site grading and earthwork
- Water and wastewater utility design
- Roadway and site-access design
- Local, state, and regional permitting
- Construction administration and field coordination
- Project management
- Staff supervision and mentoring
