The Senior SCADA Developer is responsible for the design, development, delivery and continuous improvement of SCADA platforms for complex control system solutions across mission-critical projects. In this role, you will define SCADA architecture standards, system design frameworks, and integration strategies while supporting project teams in the design, implementation, and commissioning of Ignition-based control systems.

This position plays a critical role in scaling Thermo's controls delivery capability across mission-critical infrastructure projects, including hyperscale data centres, energy systems, and advanced industrial environments. You will guide engineering teams, establish platform standards, and ensure scalable, secure, and high-performance SCADA solutions across multiple projects.

This role is ideal for professionals who combine strong technical architecture capabilities with hands-on experience in industrial automation and SCADA system delivery.

What You’ll Do

Core Responsibilities:

  • Review and maintain Ignition platform architecture standards across Thermo projects.
  • Update reference architectures for scalable SCADA deployments including redundancy and distributed gateways.
  • Support the design of SCADA systems integrating PLC platforms, BMS, EPMS, and industrial networks.
  • Develop reusable libraries, templates, and engineering standards to improve project efficiency.
  • Support system integration, SCADA configuration, commissioning, and validation activities across projects.
  • Produce and review control system architecture, software, and technical documentation
  • Execute engineering tasks across multiple projects, ensuring delivery on time and within scope
  • Support system integration, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and site acceptance testing (SAT)
  • Identify and resolve technical issues across software, hardware, and system interfaces
  • Support value engineering efforts to optimise cost and performance of solutions
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of engineering standards, tools, and processes
  • Support Business Development teams with technical input for proposals and bids as required
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align scope, schedule, and deliverables.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with internal teams, customers, and partners.
  • Act as a technical interface between Engineering, Integration, and Operations teams.
  • Support project leadership in identifying risks, resolving issues, and maintaining delivery alignment.
  • Identify and elevate technical risks, constraints, or scope changes early.
Quality, Safety & Process:
  • Establish SCADA engineering standards, documentation frameworks, and best practices.
  • Ensure system designs align with cybersecurity standards and industrial networking best practices.
  • Support quality processes including architecture reviews, code reviews, and system validation.
  • Drive continuous improvement of SCADA engineering workflows and deployment methodologies.
