The Industrial Hygienist is responsible for the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of occupational‑health hazards associated with Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing operations. This role serves as the site subject‑matter expert for industrial hygiene programs and provides technical leadership to identify, assess, and mitigate employee exposures to chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards.

The Industrial Hygienist will support a high‑hazard manufacturing environment involving battery cell handling, module and pack assembly, electrolyte‑containing systems, energy storage equipment, electrical testing, thermal processes, material handling, and maintenance operations. The position partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Occupational Health, and EHS teams to ensure regulatory compliance, implementation of best practices, and protection of employee health.

• Serve as the site’s Industrial Hygiene subject matter expert, providing technical guidance to leadership, operations, and engineering teams.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve site IH programs to ensure full compliance with OSHA, state, local, and corporate occupational health requirements.
• Lead IH training programs, support Management of Change (MOC) reviews, and participate in internal audits, regulatory inspections, and incident investigations.
• Design and execute qualitative and quantitative exposure monitoring plans for physical, chemical, and ergonomic hazards.
• Evaluate and mitigate specialized risks including battery dusts/materials, solvents/VOCs, electrolyte constituents, thermal emissions, noise, lasers, and radiation.
• Maintain the site IH database, analyze exposure trends, and translate complex technical data into clear, actionable reports and dashboards for leadership.
• Investigate potential over exposures and collaborate with Engineering and Operations to design, validate, and optimize engineering controls such as local exhaust ventilation, dust collection, and process enclosure.
• Apply the hierarchy of controls to systematically reduce workplace risks and manage third‑party IH consultants and analytical laboratories.
• Oversee the chemical approval process, maintain exposure inventories, review Safety Data Sheets, and lead the Hazard Communication program.
• Partner with occupational health providers to support medical surveillance programs including respiratory protection, audiometric testing, heat stress, and return‑to‑work evaluations.
• Support emergency response planning for chemical releases and battery‑related incidents.

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Toxicology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related scientific/technical field.
• 5+ years of progressive industrial hygiene experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience conducting chemical and physical exposure assessments, managing medical surveillance, and implementing engineering controls.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and occupational health standards.
• Excellent project management and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across all levels.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and specialized IH data management systems.

• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credential.
