Why This Role Matters
As a Structural Engineer – Early Career with 0-3 years of experience you’ll play a key role in supporting the firm and shaping projects that make a difference—from concept through completion. You’ll collaborate with talented teammates, contribute your expertise, and help us deliver thoughtful, high-quality solutions for those we serve.
What You’ll Do
- Design structural solutions for industrial, commercial, and educational projects, with a primary focus on industrial sectors.
- Collaborate with experienced engineers, technicians, and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality designs for our long-standing industrial clients both locally and nationally.
- Provide support in design and drawing production within the structural discipline.
- Perform shop drawing reviews, field data collection, and field data entry.
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Work under the guidance and mentorship of licensed structural engineers.
- Participate in site visits, which may require driving, climbing ladders, working on elevated platforms, and wearing PPE specific to client sites.
- Travel occasionally, including some overnight stays, as needed.

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering.
- Master’s in Structural Engineering is preferred but not required.
- Completion of coursework in steel and concrete is essential; experience with wood and masonry is a plus.
- Eligibility to sit for the Iowa PE exam after gaining the required experience.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to collaborate effectively within teams.
- Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to present design solutions confidently.
- Experience with Revit, 3D software (Navisworks/Recap), structural engineering design software, and Microsoft Office is preferred.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn new things and adapt to changing markets and software updates
- Ability to pass drug and background screenings required for work at most industrial sites.
