CIVIL ENGINEERING CAD TECHNICIAN – SITE CIVIL DEVELOPMENT

EMH&T is currently seeking a Civil Engineering CAD Technician to join our Site Civil Development II team located in Columbus, OH.
Our CAD Technician works collaboratively with the engineering team to draft technical engineering design components, assist with preliminary and completed layouts, design concepts, and detailed design drawings from technical notes, sketches, and/or other drawings.
The Site Development Technician works on projects related to commercial, retail, health campuses, higher education campuses, along with other private projects.
Responsibilities- Produce detailed 2D and 3D drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Micro Station).
- Prepare plans, profiles, cross‑sections, drainage plans, utility profiles, grading, and construction details for civil infrastructure projects.
- Update and revise drawings based on engineer markups, design changes, and project requirements.
- Maintain drawing accuracy, consistency, and adherence to company and industry drafting standards.
- May assist with estimating quantities for items such as pavement and earthwork.
- Ensure proper version control and documentation of revisions.
- Incorporate survey data, GIS information, and field notes into design files.
- Perform self‑checks and peer reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
- Identify potential design conflicts or constructability issues and communicate them to the engineering team. This may include performing occasional field visits to reconcile prepared plan data with existing site conditions.
- Stay current with software updates, drafting best practices, and emerging technologies.
- May prepare exhibits for conceptual layouts, engineering reports, project discussions, and client meetings.

- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to express ideas clearly.
- Ability to appropriately prioritize and complete assignments thoroughly, accurately, and within established timelines. Ask appropriate questions when clarification or additional direction is needed.

- Communication and follow-up is timely, responsive, clear, concise, and appropriate to the assignment, audience, and situation.
- Demonstrates continued growth in knowledge of civil engineering processes, procedures, standards, and project requirements and effectively applies acquired knowledge to assignments.
- Demonstrates increasing proficiency with applicable engineering/design software and other technical tools required for assigned work.
- Some technical education, specialized training or work experience with one or more CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, Microstation, ARC/INFO, GIS.
- Knowledge of basic math (geometry) involved in the production and use of drawings or models.
