is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Scottsdale, Arizona. Over 10-12 weeks, you will assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry while working alongside experienced engineers and consultants. This is a paid, mentored internship with hands-on project experience.
You will support project coordination, documentation, budget awareness, and collaboration across disciplines while contributing to education-focused work for the team you would join. The role also offers exposure to complex renovation and expansion projects across the Southwest, helping advance high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP
2050 and AIA
2030.

What You’ll Do
- Assist with design portions of projects related to mechanical systems according to code and standards.
- Support engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry.
- Research commercially available equipment for project applications.
- Help maintain project documentation, including project design notebooks and permanent record files.
- Assist with coordination of design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier partners.
- Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check.
- Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations and support other services required by the contract services agreement.
- Work within the project's monetary budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.
What You’ll Bring
Required Education and Experience
- Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required
Required
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Preferred
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

- The team supports education and industrial work, with a broad active portfolio that also includes higher education, hospitality, healthcare, telecom and utility, tribal and government, and mixed commercial projects.
- Full MEP delivery is the backbone of the team's work, with frequent construction administration support and recurring fire protection, technology, and energy modeling involvement.
- The team also supports labs, clean rooms, central plant work, public and tribal facilities, hotels, senior living, and utility and telecom infrastructure upgrades across the Southwest.
