Mechanical Engineer

• Apply engineering principles — including mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and materials science — to solve complex technical problems.
• Plan and execute engineering projects including research, system design, testing, and analysis.
• Develop engineering plans, cost estimates, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Operate and maintain data collection systems, instrumentation, and engineering analysis tools.
• Produce formal technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced research and test environment.
• Occasional travel required (approximately 2–3 times per year).

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Proven ability to deliver results with minimal supervision.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• CAD skills (Solid Works preferred).
• Sole U.S. Citizenship with eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.

• Experience with fire testing, or fire protection research.
• Familiarity with firefighting agents, tactics, or evaluation methods.
• Experience with computational modeling / CFD tools.
• Proficiency with data acquisition and control systems (e.g., LabVIEW).
• Background in fabrication, mechanical integration, or instrumentation.
• Experience in hazardous or industrial testing environments.
• Firefighting training or operational experience.
• Familiarity with FAA research programs or aviation safety testing.
